My Christian Favorites! (Scriptures & Music) | The Teen Safe Zone

My Christian Favorites | The Teen Safe Zone

Hi everyone! Welcome, or welcome back, to The Teen Safe Zone where it's safe for teens to be themselves! Happy Resurrection Sunday to those who celebrate! Since I am a Christian, for today's blog post, I have decided to share my Christian favorites list which includes my favorite worship music, Bible scriptures, and tips that I've learned along the way! I hope this helps other Christians / people new to the faith!

Favorite Worship Songs:

I honestly have a hard time finding worship music that I like. I tend to be a very picky person when it comes to listening to worship music, and for the longest time, I felt ashamed about it because this is not something you would typically hear from a Christian. However, I have learned that I'm not the only Christian who feels this way and that you just have to find worship music that you connect with; and for everyone, that will be different, and that's ok!

I have found out that I enjoy contemporary worship music, as well as ballads! Below, I have listed some of my all-time favorite worship songs, and you can check out my complete Christian playlist by clicking here.

  1. Nothing Else - Cody Carnes | An honest, genuine, piano worship ballad. My all time favorite worship song!

  2. Fighting For Me (Piano Version) - Riley Clemmons | Another piano worship ballad. The original is an upbeat version, but I personally connect with this version more.

  3. Way Maker (Single Version) - Leeland | I remember listening to this song just a few months ago when I was in a situation where everything felt helpless. God definitely is a way maker!

  4. Friend In Jesus (Live) - CAIN | This is one I recently discovered a few months ago! 'Rise Up' is also another good worship song from the band CAIN.

  5. God Only Knows - From KING & COUNTRY | I first heard this song about 3-4 years ago when I was a pre-teen. Obviously, I was still inexperienced and just thought of this song as catchy, but as I got older, I understood the lyrics more.

As mentioned earlier, for a very long time, I had difficulties finding worship music that I actually enjoyed listening to, and didn't feel forced to like it. Some of you reading may be experiencing the same thing as I was. Don't feel bad, or 'less than', or that you're a 'bad Christian' if you haven't found worship music that you enjoy yet. We all have different tastes in music genres, and that includes worship music too!

One thing that helped me was to find worship songs that sound like songs I would listen to on a daily basis. I enjoy piano ballads, so I found worship music within that same genre. I also don't like listening to worship songs that are sad and long, so through that, I found that I enjoy many upbeat, contemporary worship songs. If God has gifted you with the gift of being a musician, don't be afraid to write and make your own worship songs as well! God gives each of us gifts and through our gifts, we give Him glory in return!

Favorite Bible Scriptures:

I have many Bible scriptures that I enjoy written in the notes of my phone. Below, I have chosen a few of my all-time Bible scriptures that I found helpful and heartwarming!

"Trust in the lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding." - Proverbs 3:5 NIV

This scripture means a lot to me because I am a person who feels that I need a clear explanation of everything in life; not that it's a bad thing, it just means that I'm a careful person. However, the key point of being a follower of Christ is to be able to trust Him even when things are beyond our understanding. What we think isn't possible, is possible for God.

"Cast all of your anxiety on Him because he cares for you." - 1 Peter 5:7 NIV

This scripture is one of the many scriptures in the Bible that shows how God cares about us. We as humans tend to not reach out for help because we feel like we'll be a burden if we do so. However, this scripture shows that God wants us to come to Him about our worries, anxiety, troubles, depression, etc.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." - Psalms 147:3 NIV

Whether it be from a relationship, a friend, or even a family member, heartbreak is no fun. But this scripture is a reminder that things won't always be this way. You won't always feel empty. You won't always feel broken, used, or mistreated. God heals the brokenhearted. He will heal you on your journey of recovery from anything that you are dealing with in life. The question is, can you trust Him to do so?

"But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." - Matthew 6:6 NIV

This scripture speaks a lot to me because over the past few years on my faith journey, I have been getting more comfortable and open during prayer, and one time, I even got a direct answer to my prayer. Every time when I pray, I always felt more comfortable when I'm alone, and this was long before I even read this scripture. Prayer is a sacred thing between you and God. Make your requests, fears, questions, etc. known to Him.

"We love because He first loved us." - 1 John 4:19 NIV

This scripture is actually listed on the blog's homepage! It's very simple and straight to the point; "We love because He first loved us." Some people can be very difficult to deal with, but we as humans can also be very difficult to deal with. We're disobedient, sometimes selfish, and there's many times we don't listen. But God still loves us, so we should spread that same love around despite how difficult others can be.

"But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first." - Matthew 19:30 NIV

This scripture is for all of us who think that we are overlooked and that no one ever notices us. Well, surprise surprise! God hasn't forgotten about you! This scripture shares with us that those people who are always first will be last, and the last will be first. This includes those people that others don't pay attention to, always underestimate, etc. Don't count yourself out!

Obviously, there are so many more scriptures I could add in and these are just a few! I will definitely share more in future blog posts to come!
