Hi everyone! Welcome or welcome back to The Teen Safe Zone, where it's safe for teens to be themselves. In today's post, we will be talking about feeling like you haven't achieved anything in life, and the feeling of waiting until something "big" happens in your life. In summary, we will be talking about the very popular term "YOLO," or "You only live once."
Have you ever felt and asked yourself, "What am I doing in life?" Or have you ever felt like you have to "wait" until something actually happens in your life to change? Well, I am learning to live life like something huge has already happened. Don't wait until life "starts," because life will never "start" until you get up and do something about it. The reason why I put the word "start" in air quotes is because I learned that life never randomly "starts". You're here, so it's already started! Sometimes as teens we feel like we have to sit around and do absolutely nothing in life until life "comes" at us. The thing about it is, life won't come to you, you have to work for it. You have to put the effort in to live the life you want.
If we're being honest, the majority of us are way more privileged than we think. We have food, we have water, we have shelter, we have the ability to work and do school at home, etc. What I'm trying to say here is that we have everything we need in life, but we don't have the things we want. There are people in this world that are living in poverty, don't have food, water, or a shelter, don't have the ability to go to school, some are in war, and there is so much more that people are facing. They will do anything to have the lifestyle that some of us have. So we have to be grateful for what we do have. Our lifestyle will be like a treasure to them, while some other people's lifestyles will be like a treasure to us. We are all privileged in some way, shape, or form.
If you don't have the things you desire, don't worry; you'll get there someday. Just don't let your material status determine your worth or happiness. Don't just sit around doing nothing because you "don't have the lifestyle you want." You have to live for the moment, or else you'll look back and realize that you wasted your time living in a pity party.
Make every moment count, because one day, we will all look back and really wonder, "What was I doing in my life?" I hope you all enjoyed today's post, and make sure to subscribe to the website for new updates! See you all next time. -Lexi
